Thanksgiving

We recognize the importance of giving back and extending a helping hand to those that are less fortunate. It has become a tradition, during the Thanksgiving holidays, for the foundation to distribute turkeys to families in need. Beginning in 2002 in Immokalee, Florida, the first turkey drive dispensed a few hundred turkeys to local members of the community.

To date, The Edgerrin James Foundation & Charities Inc. Annual Turkey Giveaway has expanded to include cities in the Central and South Florida regions such as Miami, Carol City, and Orlando. The foundation now partners with local parks, recreation and community centers to help feed an estimated 4,000 families each year.

The Annual Turkey Giveaway is a part of the E.D.G.E Initiatives, dedicated to supporting kids and their families in need during the holiday season.

Turkey drive

During the 2010 Thanksgiving holiday The Edgerrin James Foundation & Charities Inc. along with Bernardo Barnhart, Vice President of Florida Community Bank in Immokalee also teamed up to purchase turkeys to be donated to the Immokalee Guadalupe Center. The Center hosted a Thanksgiving dinner at the park that feed an estimated 3,000 people.
